Hanoi City – Ha Long Bay – Sapa – Fansipan 4D3N Tour
Journey
Itinerary
08:00-08:30: The car picks you up at your hotel in the Old Quarter or the Opera House to start the tour of Hanoi. In the morning, the group visits:
- Tran Quoc Pagoda – West Lake: Located on an island on the eastern side of West Lake (Tay Ho district). The pagoda has a history of nearly 1500 years and houses a Bodhi tree hundreds of years old, originating from India. It is considered the oldest pagoda in Thang Long – Hanoi. The architecture harmoniously combines solemnity and antiquity with the serene landscape of the vast lake, serving as the center of Buddhism in Thang Long during the Ly and Tran dynasties.
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex: The place where the great leader lived and worked from 1954 until the end of his life. Here, you will have the chance to learn about his simple lifestyle. You will also visit One Pillar Pagoda, one of the four symbols of Hanoi.
Note: On Mondays and Fridays, the mausoleum is under maintenance, and you can only visit the exterior before going to the stilt house, fish pond, and One Pillar Pagoda. - Vietnam Museum of Ethnology: A museum that preserves and displays many cultural artifacts of all 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. This is the newest museum, and it might be one of the most interesting not only in Hanoi but in all of Vietnam. It has both indoor and outdoor sections, with the indoor exhibits providing extensive information and outdoor activities making the museum stand out. There are also some traditional houses modeled after the architecture of ethnic minorities, especially those in Northern and Central Highlands regions.
On the second day, the Ethnology Museum will be closed, and the visit will be replaced by the Women’s Museum.
Lunch: The group has lunch at a restaurant in the Old Quarter and can take a few minutes to walk and explore the names of the 36 streets of Hanoi.
Afternoon: Continue visiting:
- Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam: Considered the first university in Vietnam, built in October 1073 and has survived to this day. It was constructed to honor Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An, the rector of Quoc Tu Giam, representing the high moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.
- Hoa Lo Prison: Formerly a prison located in Hanoi, also known as the Central Prison or ironically as the Hanoi Hilton. It was built when Indochina was an integral part of the French Empire. Part of it was destroyed in 1990 and is now used as a museum.
16:00: The Hanoi City tour ends, and the car takes you back to the hotel, or if you prefer, the car can drop you off at Hoan Kiem Lake for further exploration (all additional costs are on your own). You may visit:
