Hanoi City – Ninh Binh – Ha Long Bay – Sapa – Fansipan 5D4N
Journey
Itinerary
08:00-08:30: Our bus picks you up at Old Quarter hotels or the Opera House to start the Hanoi city tour. In the morning, the group will visit:
- Tran Quoc Pagoda – West Lake: Located on an island to the east of West Lake (Tay Ho District), this pagoda has a history of nearly 1,500 years along with a centuries-old Bodhi tree from India. It is considered the oldest pagoda in Thang Long – Hanoi. The architecture harmoniously combines solemnity and antiquity with the elegant scenery amid the tranquility of the vast lake. It was the Buddhist center of the Thang Long capital during the Ly and Tran dynasties.
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex (including the Mausoleum and stilt house area): This is where the great leader lived and worked from 1954 until his final years. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about Uncle Ho’s simple life. Additionally, you can visit the One Pillar Pagoda to admire one of the four symbols of Hanoi.
Note: On Mondays and Fridays, the Mausoleum undergoes maintenance, so visitors can only view it from the outside. Afterwards, you’ll visit the stilt house area, fish pond, and One Pillar Pagoda. - Vietnam Museum of Ethnology: This museum preserves and displays many cultural artifacts of all 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. It’s the newest but perhaps one of the most extensive and interesting museums not only in Hanoi but in all of Vietnam. Featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibits, the museum stands out with traditional houses modeled after the architecture of ethnic minorities, especially from the Northern regions and Central Highlands.
On Mondays, the Museum of Ethnology is closed and will be replaced with a visit to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum.
Noon: Lunch at a restaurant in the Old Quarter area and rest. After the meal, you can take a few minutes to stroll and learn about the names of Hanoi’s 36 ancient streets.
Afternoon: Continue to visit:
- Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam: Considered Vietnam’s first university. This ancient structure, built in October 1073, still stands today. It was constructed to honor Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An—the principal of Quoc Tu Giam—representing the high moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.
- Hoa Lo Prison: Formerly a prison located in Hanoi, also ironically known as the “Hanoi Hilton.” It was built when Indochina was part of the French Empire. Partially demolished in 1990, it now serves as a museum.
16:00: Conclude the Hanoi city tour. The bus will return you to your hotel or, if you prefer, drop you off at the Ham Ca Map area for independent exploration (any additional costs are self-funded) at one of the following locations. You will return to your hotel on your own:
- Free stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake: Also known as the Lake of the Returned Sword, discover the Vietnamese and French architecture surrounding the lake. Visit Ngoc Son Temple, dedicated to Saint Van Xuong and General Tran Hung Dao—a renowned figure in Vietnamese and world history—and the The Huc Bridge.
- Rent a cyclo or electric car to tour the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake area.
- Purchase tickets to watch a water puppet show.

07:00-07:30: The bus and guide pick you up at hotels in the Old Quarter and the Hanoi Opera House, then depart for Ninh Binh.
10:30: Arrive at Bai Dinh Pagoda—a famous temple known for its many records. The entire complex covers an area of 107 hectares, featuring the Tam The and Phap Chu halls, each thousands of square meters. The pagoda houses the largest bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni in Southeast Asia (weighing 100 tons) and three statues of Tam The Buddha, each weighing 50 tons.
12:30: Lunch at a local restaurant.
14:00: Transfer to Trang An Wharf. Board a boat to explore the Trang An Ecotourism Complex, where limestone ranges, valleys, and rivers intertwine to create a mystical and picturesque landscape.
You have two options for your visit:

You’ll also stop at spiritual sites like Suoi Tien Temple and Vu Lam Royal Steps. This option is perfect for young travelers and photography enthusiasts looking to capture memorable moments.
